Clowns have gotten a bad reputation in recent years, especially because of movies like IT and other cultural influences. But in reality, clowns have been a part of human history for thousands of years. This seminar will include: • A short history of clowning and pantomime • The role of clowns in society and why they are needed • A look at the most famous clowns in history • Understanding the different types of clowns • Learning clown skills like juggling, prat falling, and pie throwing • Mastering the basic pantomime techniques, which are key to clowning • Choosing your own clown persona and clown name • Designing your own clown costume and makeup • Getting a basic clown makeup kit • Creating a short routine to perform in The Showcase on Friday night for family and friends • Participating in a graduation ceremony at the Showcase, where you'll receive a clown diploma after completing the week-long training Learning about acting is not enough, it’s important for a young actor to have an opportunity to explore what it is like to perform in front of a live audience. The class will end with an exciting performance for family and friends, showcasing everything you’ve learned.
