Class Description: This training focuses on activities that develop physical skill proficiency and demonstrative tasks in firearms. This class will consist of 4 hours in the classroom with the Firearms training simulator and 4 hours on the firing range.

We require all participants to be certified police academy officers. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling to include proper muzzle safety and awareness, proper draw-stroke and re-holster, how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun in classroom conditions with inert dummy rounds.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the class may be removed from training.

Required Equipment

• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol-Full size and compact pistols (semi-auto center fire pistols only) 9mm, .40S&W, .45ACP
  • No micro or pocket pistols to include: P238, P938, P365, M&P Shield, Glock 43, etc.
• 200 Round of Handgun Ammunition
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouch
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt.
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered.
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner MCC-PSI Glock 17 9mm pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment.
• Please wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut necklines.
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses.
• Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs
• Loading devices (optional)
